World Diabetes Day

It’s World Diabetes Day!

Diabetes can cause damage to your eyes, kidneys, nerves and heart and is linked to some types of cancers.

Here are some tips to help prevent diabetes health problems:

  • Manage your ABC’s. A1c glucose levels should be below 7. Blood pressure issues can lead to heart attack, stroke, and damage your kidneys. Cholesterol numbers can be affected by high glucose levels.
  • Take small steps toward healthy habits such as eating healthier, being active, not smoking and getting enough sleep.
  • Take your medicines on time. Even when you are feeling healthy, take your medication.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Your mental health should be a priority. Managing diabetes is not easy.
  • Utilize a good health care team. It takes a team to manage diabetes.
