UV Safety Month – July, 2025

July is UV Safety month! With the 4th of July Holiday approaching we wanted to give you some tips about protecting your skin while you are enjoying the festivities.

  1. Do not burn or Tan: Avoid intentional tanning. It may contribute to skin cancer and premature again of the skin.
  2. Seek Shade: Get under cover when the sun’s rays are the strongest between 10am and 4pm.
  3. Wear protective clothing: Wear long-sleeved shirts and pants and a wide brimmed hast as well s UV-blocking sunglasses.
  4. Generously Apply Sunscreen: Use a Broad Spectrum sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 or higher for protection from ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays, which contribute to premature aging, sunburn and skin cancer. Apply generously 15 minutes before going outside and reapply every 2 hours or after swimming.
  5. Use extra caution near water and sand as these elements have a reflective quality and can increase your chances of sunburn.
