National Women’s Health and Fitness Day 2025

Today is National Women’s Health and Fitness Day! At North Star Family Medicine we believe in prevention and adopting a healthy lifestyle. This day is set aside to encourage women in their self care journey. So many women are focused on everything and everyone else instead of their own needs. Here are a few tips on getting into a routine and forming new health and fitness habits.

  • Make a commitment. Make a list of your reasons to make lifestyle changes due to family history of disease or simply a desire to look better and make healthier choices.
  • Do a health inventory. This enables you to see the areas you need change. You can visit us at North Star Family Medicine for a check-up to find out if you have any weight-related risk factors that you should be aware of before starting or restarting your fitness routine.
  • Set realistic goals. If you have not been active for some time, ease into it with setting short-term and long-term goals. Goals that are effective should be specific, realistic, and forgiving to allow room for occasional setbacks.
  • Find someone who can support you. Seek out a trusted source who can support you as you work toward your health and fitness goals. It can be a family member, a friend, a personal trainer, a weight loss group, or a health specialist, such as a dietician. This person can help you stay off track with your lifestyle changes.
  • Continually check in on your progress. At North Star Family Medicine we can help you revisit your goals often and help you assess your progress and adjust where needed. Contact us at northstarfamilymedicine.org to set up a consultation to get started.
