Epilepsy may occur as a result of a genetic disorder or an acquired Brain injury. Epilepsy is usually treated by medications and in some cases by surgery, devices, or dietary changes.
The purpose of this day is to:
- Raise awareness about epilepsy, a neurological condition that causes seizures.
- Educate the public about the symptoms, causes, and management of epilepsy.
- Reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with epilepsy.
- Support people living with epilepsy and their families.
