2026 CDC, HHS, Medicare and Medicaid Guidelines

Happy New Year 2026!

2026 is off to an exciting start for the health care community! At North Star Family Medicine, we adapt continuously to the changes in health care and are aware of the new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control, Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.

Health and Human Services updated the new food pyramid, focusing on healthier food with higher proteins, fruits and vegetables as the base. For more information refer to the website www.realfood.gov. This reflects what nutrition experts and physicians recommend for our patients.

HHS also addressed Lyme Disease recently in a roundtable discussion. More information is available at their website: Invisible Illness: Lyme Disease | HHS.gov

In addition, HHS acknowledges that that Infection Associated Chronic Conditions and Illness exist and, while more research and development of treatment options is necessary, this confirms what many Central Minnesotans have experienced for years due to the endemic of Lyme Disease in our area.

Many other changes, including vaccinations schedules, management of obesity with GLP-1 inhibitors, and new blood pressure guidelines were released at the end of 2025 and beginning of 2026. Dr. Lelcu and her staff are up to date with the announcement, are implementing recommendations, and continually monitor health care changes to ensure our patients are receiving the most appropriate and revised guidelines for their health needs.
