World Alzheimer’s Day 2025

It’s World Alzheimer’s Day 2025. This day was created to raise awareness and challenge the stigma around Alzheimer’s disease. Here are some symptoms to watch for in those you love.

The 5 A’s of Alzheimer’s:

  • Amnesia: Memory loss that starts with short-term memories and progresses to long-term memories.
  • Aphasia: Difficulty with language, including expressing oneself and understanding others.
  • Apraxia: The inability to perform familiar, purposeful movements or tasks, such as dressing or using utensils.
  • Agnosia: The inability to recognize familiar people, objects, tastes, or sounds, even when the senses themselves are intact.
  • Anomia: A specific type of aphasia characterized by the difficulty in finding the right words to name things, although the person knows what the object is.
