It’s Tick Season

Now that Spring has arrived in the Brainerd Lakes Area, tick disease season is upon us. Remember to wear protective clothing and use chemical repellents when you are hiking, or working, in the woods. Perform a daily check for ticks and remove any that you might find. If you have trouble removing the tick, North Star Family Medicine is available to assist.

Due to the high risk of tick-borne disease in our area, such as Lyme Disease, current CDC guidelines recommend prophylactic treatment if the tick was identified as a “deer tick”, it was engorged and was removed in the past 72 hours. Early treatment of Lyme Disease prevents long term complications.

North Star Family Medicine is available to answer your questions regarding tick disease, remove ticks and provide treatment for tick disease.
